Daily Paper Clothing
Discover the Daily Paper FW21 collection. As a graphic designer, I created visuals and patterns for Daily Paper, defining the brand's aesthetic through a fusion of African culture and Dutch design. These designs were integrated into the Fall/Winter 21 collection and utilized by product developers, technical designers, and textile designers to craft fabrics and garments. The collection is released through Daily Paper stores and global retailers, showcased at the top of fashion events and in collaborations worldwide.
VISUAL DESIGN
Graphic design, Pattern design, Concept visualization.
TECHNICAL DESIGN
Digital Printing (DTG/DTF), Screen Printing, Sublimation Printing, Jacquard Weaving, Knitting and Crocheting, Laser Etching.
Fall/Winter 21 collection
The FW21 collection focused on Ancestral Anarchy, with subthemes including Ancestors, Spiritualism, Rituals and Anarchy. As the designer, I crafted African braid, historically used as tribal identifiers into patterns for the collection. These patterns were applied in Jacquard Weaving, Screen Printing, Knitting, Crocheting, and Laser Etching techniques.
"African braiding traditions
embody tribal identity, religious
symbolism, and resilience."
Executing the Styles
Other styles that were requested were more focused on anarchism and spirituality. Powerful terms that needed powerful artwork. When embodying these styles, it is important to highlight the brand image in a subtle yet visible brand mark. Here you can see the visual realization of these styles.
Brand Visibility
The graphic patterns adorned both garments and display elements, such as shop windows and public advertising. For instance, a display stand at Beijenkorf in Amsterdam featured the pattern. Public brand communication and presence in fashion department stores are vital for engaging the target audience and promoting the new collection. Precise technical planning ensured the patterns' effectiveness across different contexts.
